First the Cell Phone, Now This! Jack's Newest Obsession!

Most of you have heard what Jack does to my cell phone(s). If you don't, stinker butt throws them away into the trash, puts them in the dishwasher (then daddy runs said dishwasher), or he just plain loses it and I have to offer money to the kid who can find it because the battery is dead and we can't call it. I can't even put it up high because my brilliant baby will climb to get it. He is very determined! He calls Grandpa and talks to him as well as makes international calls. Cell Phone insurance company axed my privileges as I have requested too many new phones in a very short period of time. Reason #1 for not having an iphone.

So now he has a new obsession, the wireless mouse!!!!! As much as I love this kid, he drives me absolutely batty!!!! I come into the office to find Jack has opened 20 browser tabs, all to different sites as well as closing out a project I was working on. Sigh!!! I've already had to search for it several times. I think my mouse needs a GPS tracker!

So he will either grow up to be a techy geek or take up thievery. When hanging with me, hide your cell phone and mouse. You have been warned.

Battle of the Creative Teams-Round Two

Here is my layout for week two. Our challenge was to use music as a theme and to have each team member's layout have something else in common. So the team chose Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" (either title or lyrics in layout)and to use the letters W and A from All Chromed Out Alpha in the layout. I'll post the link in a few days for voting.

Isn't Livi Lou just darling?!?

Oh, how I wish it was Christmas!

Then I wouldn't be sweltering in this heat! My smart car told me it was 108 today outside. Bluck! So here is my Christmas in July post. Jared saw me scrapping these and was inspired to play Christmas carols on the piano for a half hour so I shut the office door and turned up my playlist. I am still ticked at Mother Nature for this heat. I knew with our fab June weather that we were gonna pay here!

Both of the fabulous and talented designers I CT for created new holiday kits for this month and I adore them both!!!

Haynay Designs came out with Once Upon A Shabby Christmas.

Here is what I made:

WM [Squared] came out with Holiday Cheer

and I made this:

Remember all winter/Xmas kits are 25% off until Tuesday.

Battle of the Creative Teams at Digi Scrap Addicts

So I am playing for Wendy's Team [Squared] Diva's. Each week our team will be given a challenge and we create layouts. This will go on for four weeks. Help us out by voting each for our team. The team with the most votes at the end of the four weeks gets bragging rights. Our challenge was to choose a color pallete and create a layout with white space (negative space). We chose green with black/white accents paired with a black and white picture with a love theme. Here is my layout:

Christmas in July @ Scrap Matters

The designers I CT for have both created brand new Christmas kits for this month. Come back tomorrow and I'll show you what I made!!!

Broccoli Salad-Now you can stop bugging me ;D

Okay!!!!! Here it is! So many of you keep asking me for the recipe so I am posting it here. Now you can hop on over and look it up whenever you get the craving.

We had this for dinner tonight with little ham sandwiches con peppercrack (I swear there is something illegal in it)cheese. Oh, and on yeast rolls from Sam's Club.
Broccoli Salad
Dressing:
1 1/2 C of mayonnaise
1/4 to 1/2 C of apple cider vinegar
1/2 C sugar

*note-tweek to your liking. I prefer a bit less than 1/4 c of apple cider vinegar and a smidge more sugar. Sorry, I don't measure "tweeks".

3-4 stalks of broccoli florets chopped (get rid of the nasty stalk and chop it fine-see picture)
1 medium purple onion chopped ( I usually leave it out. I am not always in the mood for onions)
1/2 C raisins (I add a few more ;D)
1/2 C of sunflower seeds (I add usually the whole bag cuz I heart them)
1 lb. of BACON GLORIOUS BACON!!!! Cooked crispy. We cheated tonight and used the Hormel precooked bacon that requires refrigeration and warming in the oven to crisp . My kids can smell bacon a mile away and they all come a runnin'.

Pour dressing over salad, refrigerate and mix when ready to serve.

YUMMO! Off to have another bowl!

Olivia's Dance Recital

I must preface this post with a complaint filed be one of our loyal readers who wants to remain anonymous (Mike Taylor) that this blogs as well as others (Kiahna) do not post regularly enough. So Mikey, this one is for you!

Our little dancing queen had her first recital and she was FABULOUS! She danced the Penguin Cha Cha (hip, hip). The song is called the Penguin Cha Cha, but Olivia adds the "hip, hip" on to the end when she talks about it because every time the lyrics say "We do the Penguin Cha Cha" the girls have to wiggle their hips "hip, hip". The pictures are from the dress rehearsal. We were allowed to get close for photos and video for the rehearsal (but not at the performance).

Have you ever tried putting make-up on a four year old? Good times people! Applying mascara was the worst!!! Mental note- buy waterproof because when you reprimand your child for poor behavior and they cry, you will have a mess! Don't you just love that street walker red lipstick?
